Canada's taekwondo athletes top in the world ranking

Taekwondo Canada is proud to announce that the recently released World Ranking points report from the World Taekwondo Federation display eight Canadian athletes in the WTF Top Ten.

After an outstanding performance at the US Open Taekwondo Championships 3 members of the national team rose up on the World Rankings, resulting in a placement more than 2 spots above their category colleagues.
  • Melissa Pagnotta shifted from 5th place to 2nd on the Welter weight division.
  • Ivett Gonda, 10 time National Champion, and 2 time Olympian, goes from 5th place to 2nd place in the Bantam weight division. 
  • Maxime Potvin in the Light weight division made the jump from 9th spot to 6th.
While 5 more athletes are holding their WTF ranks as published in previous news; Yvette Yong, Siddhartha Bhat, Karine Sergerie, Sebastien Michaud, and Francois Coulombe-Fortier.
